Thirty years ago we started Delicate Cover Up. Back then there were very few women in this field… there still aren’t many. Few merchants took us seriously, but women supported us; feeling very comfortable with us in their homes. Next we realized that there was a need for design services for those who needed help making decisions for their homes but were intimidated by the perception that interior design had to be exclusive and expensive. So, we returned to school and completed an interior design program at night while working during the day.

From a young age I was drawn to beautiful things and had a talent for creating them. Design became the obvious carrier path for me. It is very gratifying to be able to work with my hands, while having the privilege of helping people bring their own visions to reality.

Criminal Justice

My original career path was criminal justice. Early on, it was clear that that was not the right direction for me. I needed to be in a more positive environment in which I could express my creativity. Designing our clients’ homes allows me to thrive; using my analytical nature and bringing beauty to life.

We met when we were both managers for Dress Barn. After 6 years there, we wanted our own business and decided to try painting and wallpapering.

We learned how, took classes in faux finishes and Delicate Cover Up was born. We worked at it part time while keeping our full time jobs until we were established. As our business started to grow we were at a cross roads and decided to take a chance and bet on ourselves.

Today we offer a full line of services, from conception to completion.

We find endless gratification in helping people bring their vision to light, making their home a haven that is a reflection of their personalities and something to be proud of.
